infografica-infoestetica-2018

May 11–12 2018, ISIA Firenze

about

ISIA Firenze is pleased to announce the second edition of “Infografica e Infoestetica” that will take place the 11th and the 12th of May, in Florence, Italy. We will continue to research different directions to communicate data and information nowadays.

Which role does data have in our lives? Can data have a poetic component? Which role do aesthetics play in Information Design? How can new technologies, such Virtual Reality, open new scenarios in the Data Visualization field?

"Infografica e Infoestetica" will try to find some answers to these questions through two days of workshops and conferences, and the presence of some of the most important experts of the topic in Italy and abroad.

“Infografica e Infoestetica” is an event organized by ISIA Firenze, under the patronage of AIAP - Associazione italiana design della comunicazione visiva, and IIID - International Institute for Information Design, with the support of MIUR - Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca, and AFAM - Alta Formazione Artistica, Musicale e Coreutica.

workshops

Workshop 1

“It is only shallow people who do not judge by appearances”

Functional aspect of aesthetics in Information Design

Held by:

Martin Foessleitner

Tutor:

Mirko Balducci

What can psychology contribute to the effectiveness of Information Design, and how can we understand the aesthetics? Can we afford to neglect and ignore the impact, or is there a way of creating and controlling which leads to development of a methodology or at least a brief manual?

It will be an Espresso Workshop with fast prototyping and testing in the streets, followed by its learnings and reflection.

The workshop will take place in English.

Workshop 2 SOLD OUT!

Infopoetry

To make information understandable, to make complexity felt

Held by:

Salvatore Zingale with a speech by Paolo Ciuccarelli

Tutor:

Giulia Piccoli Trapletti

After an introduction to the expressive and design components of infopoetry, the workshop will invite the participants to find the best poetic ways to represent a dataset that will be provided by the tutors. The final outputs will be concepts that can be applied to different media. With “Infopoetry” we mean a way of translating information into expressive forms, capable of making data felt in unexplored ways.

Participants are recommended to bring their laptop with design software (ex: Adobe suite) and stationery materials.

The workshop will take place in Italian.

Transport

The headquarters of ISIA Firenze are easy to reach by public transportation. Coming from the Santa Maria Novella (SMN) railway station, the Tramvia is probably the best way to reach us.

→ Tramvia

Directly from the platform, take the exit to the right of the SMN railway station. Then take Line 1, direction “Villa Costanza”, and stop at “Paolo Uccello”. The Tramvia runs every 5 minutes. Tickets are the same for the tram and buses, and you can get them at Ataf points, newsstands, or by sms on board. Once you get off, follow this path. Our headquarters are by Scuderie di Villa Strozzi, inside Il Boschetto park: once you go through the gate, follow the street (slightly uphill) until you will arrive to a small square with a fountain. ISIA is the building on the left, after the flight of steps.

Parking

It is also possible to arrive by car, but take note that it is only possible to park by the little square with the fountain in front of Villa Strozzi.
